		<description>I like the idea of Eco book/film - I hadn't considered that.

I'll try and post a list at some point. Certainly "Contact" and "Inherit the Wind" would feature on it, and probably "Gattaca" too.</description>

		<description>&lt;i&gt;Metropolis&lt;/i&gt; would have to be at the top of my list, I think.  &lt;i&gt;Blade Runner&lt;/i&gt; would be on it somewhere.  So would &lt;i&gt;The Name of the Rose&lt;/i&gt;, the only one of Eco's novels that's worth reading, and a great movie.  It's not precisely about technology, but it certainly reflects medieval technological developments, and the clash of secular and religious cultures quite well.  Oddly enough, even in academic contexts, &lt;i&gt;The Terminator&lt;/i&gt; and its various sequels comes up more than I would have thought.  Most of it's a bit silly, but the whole idea of Skynet and what-not has been treated fairly seriously as at least one of the options for a post-singularity future.

I presume you'll post your list eventually and not just tease us?</description>
