I thought Te Papa was an excellent museum when i visitied it a few years ago. What’s the vibe like for a New Zealander?

Mostly good, I think. I didn’t have much time to look around the museum when I was there – either doing conference things or trying to catch up with other people in town – but the bits I did see looked engaging.
