Science, Technology & Faith

Here are a collection of handouts produced for various lectures I’ve given in 2005 to theology students. Most consist of a lecture outline and a bibliography suitable for introducing the reader to issues of faith, science and technology. The bibliographies are not meant to be exhaustive and double up across lectures in some places.

M202-PenguinsProceduresPeople.pdf
A lecture given to BCNZ theology students looking at how different Christian understandings of the place of humans in the world shape interaction with that wider world. How do understandings of creation, human nature, the imago Dei and eschatology shape our relationships with the rest of creation? (Final part of the lecture looked at xenotransplantation.)
M205-GospelAndTechnoculture.pdf
A lecture given to BCNZ theology students examining what it means to live as Christian, individually and as a community, within contemporary technoculture.
MB642-TheologyAndScience.pdf
Brief lecture given to the Carey Baptist College bioethics course on the current state of science-theology interaction.
MB642-TranshumanismAndCoCreator.pdf
Brief lecture given to the Carey Baptist College bioethics course on tranhumanist technologies and ideologies.

At some point I’ll build a more definitive bibliography - organized by theme - and post it here.
